iPad 2 to have a resolution of 2048×1536?
MacRumors has published some ‘evidence’ that the iPad 2 most likely will feature a resolution of 2048×1536. And if they ramp up the amount of pixels they have to put in some more horse powers – so that the iPad 2 will feature the much more powerful A5 chip is probably a safe bet as well. Earlier reports also reveals that the iPad 2 will feature a camera as well. The original iPad was presented on the 27th of January 2010 and Apple usually present new models in yearly cycles so expect an iPad 2 reveal pretty soon.
Get well soon Steve!
The following email was sent to all of the Apple staff today:
Team,
At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.
I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
Steve
Hopefully Steve will be healthy and strong very soon.

Mac App Store is live!

A few minutes ago Apple released OS X 10.6.6 with the brand new ‘Mac App Store‘. It’s basically a new way of browsing, installing and paying for new Mac software. It’s just as easy as the App Store for iPad/iPhone/iPod and here’s how it looks:

The amount of software in the Mac App Store isn’t that great – yet – but that will change just within the next few months. I think that this will be great!
Handbrake 0.9.5
Handbrake is the most common video conversion software for Mac computers and it’s been a while since it last got updated – but now, there’s a new version available for download. I use it mainly to be able to convert my DVDs for my iPad/iPhone, but you can of course do all kinds of video conversions with this excellent free software. (For some reason the automatic software update can’t find it yet, so you need to get it from the official download site). Check out all info about the new release inside.
