Mac App Store is live!

A few minutes ago Apple released OS X 10.6.6 with the brand new ‘Mac App Store‘. It’s basically a new way of browsing, installing and paying for new Mac software. It’s just as easy as the App Store for iPad/iPhone/iPod and here’s how it looks:

The amount of software in the Mac App Store isn’t that great – yet – but that will change just within the next few months. I think that this will be great!
Handbrake 0.9.5
Handbrake is the most common video conversion software for Mac computers and it’s been a while since it last got updated – but now, there’s a new version available for download. I use it mainly to be able to convert my DVDs for my iPad/iPhone, but you can of course do all kinds of video conversions with this excellent free software. (For some reason the automatic software update can’t find it yet, so you need to get it from the official download site). Check out all info about the new release inside.

iPad 2 case images
The video below (found at MacRumors.com is quite interesting since it’s supposed to be a case for the upcoming iPad 2. I guess this video might get pulled from YouTube since a lot of bloggers have had to remove images featuring the iPad 2 case.
Ultra Edit for Mac
One of the few things I’ve been missing when I switched from Mac to PC was a really good text editor. I have tried a bunch of the Mac apps, but I haven’t found any one that I have liked more than Ultra Edit. So, today I’m very happy that I read over at TUAW that Ultra Edit is available in a Mac version. It’s $79.95 and available here:
