iPhone camera shootout
Today I have done a camera shootout with the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3Gs and the iPhone 3G. As you already know the difference between the cameras in these phones is quite big but it was interesting to find out just how big. Check out the shootout gallery inside.

iPhone camera shootout part 2
In the second part of the test I have done some outdoor shooting during almost perfect light conditions. All of the cameras perform pretty good during these conditions and you can get some decent shots even with the iPhone 3G. Check them out inside.

iPhone camera shootout part 3
In the third part of the test I’m shooting an object from a pretty close distance (15 cm). Here you can really see a big difference between the different cameras and if you compare the 3G with the iPhone 4 side by side you can see that they are miles apart.

iPhone camera shootout part 4
There’s no doubt that the iPhone 4 has a much better camera than the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3Gs, and the new HDR functionality makes it even easier to get good results during hard lighting conditions. As you can see in the comparision above the HDR photo shot with the iPhone 4 is much better than the rest of the bunch. Let’s move on to snapping text and images.

StopMotion Recorder – iPhone app review
StopMotion Recorder is a cute little $0.99 app that will let you record short stop motion videos with your iPhone. Here’s our short review of the app.
Interview with Takayuki Fukatsu, famous App developer
Two of my all time favorite apps for the iPhone are QuadCamera and the TiltShift Generator. They are both designed and developed by the wiz Takayuki Fukatsu and today I made this interview with him.
Pro HDR – snap better iPhone 4 photos
Taking photos when there’s a combination of light and dark areas is kind of difficult, and to be able to capture even those moments there’s a technique called ‘HDR’ (short for High dynamic range imaging). You basically snap two photos with different exposure settings and combine the two images. There’s a great app for iPhone that does this process automatically, and the end results is pretty good!
Autostitch for iPhone – review
As the iPhone 4 features a really good camera different camera apps become more and more interesting. Today I tried the ‘Autostitch’ app from Cloudburst Research which is capable of stitching a bunch of images and creating 1 larger panorama photo.
iPhone 4 camera test notes
The iPhone 3G had a crappy camera and when they released the iPhone 3GS it actually became quite useable. The difference in quality between the 3GS and the 4 is very noticeable and it actually shoots very good photos even in difficult conditions. Here are some comparisions between a 3GS, an iPhone 4, Droid X and a Canon S90.

Full House episode shot with Canon 5D
The director Greg Yaitanes of the extremely popular TV show ‘House’, broke the news that the full final season finale was shot entirely with Canon EOS 5D cameras. Pretty interesting stuff. Broadcast quality video cameras are definitely becoming widely available for the consumer market. Read the whole story over at Photocinenews:
