Zoom H1 Handy Recorder
Here’s a new, small recorder from Samson Audio. What’s really intersting about the Zoom H1 is the fact that it’s really small, pretty cheap ($99), and features the same microphones as the H2 (the most popular handheld recorder in the world). It will be available on July 30. More images and information inside.
Overpriced HDMI cables
Here’s a quite amusing story about overpriced HDMI cables – and of course, they are a scam. But there’s an interesting angle to this story and a logical explanation to why the chains keep pushing these expensive cables.

From the attic: Laserdisc
Laserdisc was a video format that was quite big in Asia in the 1980/1990′s. It was never a hit in Europe, and in USA 2% (roughly two million units) of the households had a Laserdisc player. Here’s a few shots of one of my old Laserdiscs (Star Wars) that I took today.
GPS satellites to get an update
The current GPS system is based on quite old technology and even if it’s good enough in some situations, it really isn’t really _that_ accurate. The GPS system is getting a huge upgrade and the current 24 satellites will be replaced one by one which in the end this will boost the GPS accuracy from the today’s 20 feet to someone’s location within an arm’s length. Read the full story over at LA Times:

White iPhone 4G
It looks like the new iPhone 4G will be available in a white version as well. Engadget just published a photo of a white iPhone 4G from a Chinese Apple site. It doesn’t look very nice though. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s ugly, but I would choose the black version anyday.

Fosfor on Facebook
In the right column, you should now see a nice little ‘Fosfor on Facebook’ widget, so why don’t you go ahead and press the like button, or visit the Fosfor Facebook page here. Thank you!

HP Designjet 3D Printer
If you got $17,500 to spare you can enjoy printing 3D objects with the brand new HP Designjet 3D printer that will be launched within the next couple of weeks. I think that this is a very cool thing and hopefully the prices will be consumer friendly in 10 years or so.
The Designjet 3D is based on Stratasys’s Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology, which turns three-dimensional CAD drawings into tangible prototypes by extruding partially molten ABS plastic in extremely fine layers one atop the other, forming the entire 3-D model in a single piece from the ground up. Designjet 3D will print in ivory-colored plastic only while Designjet Color 3D will print single-color parts in up to eight different colors (we’re not sure why you can’t just put a different hue of ABS plastic in the Designjet 3D).

iPad disassembly video
This is probably one of the coolest videos this week – a total disassembly of the iPad, and then getting it back together. Check it out. Big thanks to Brian at techrestore.com for sending this in.
