Happy New Year
I wish you all a Happy New Year! Check out this cool mashup clip featuring Steve Jobs pitching the iPad for the Dragons’ Den.
Windows vs Apple, blu-ray envy
Microsoft is swinging at Apple again with this new commercial featuring a Windows 7 laptop showing Avatar on a blu-ray disc and a jealous MacBook looking from the side. In countries such as Sweden it sure can be painful that there’s no Apple computer with a blu-ray player available – since you can’t rent any movies through iTunes. But in other countries where you can rent HD movies the problem is much smaller. I use a Mac mini as the center of my home entertaiment system and it sure is a shame that I need to have a blu-ray player as well. I definitely see why Apple want to skip this step and move directly to streaming media, but we’re not there yet.
Live stream from Apple’s event!
Apple’s hosting their yearly music event tomorrow and for the first time in many, many years they will provide a live stream as well. The event starts today at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Full press info after the break.
Vimeo is now running HTML 5

Check out the shot above. The same web page from Vimeo on my MacBook, my iPad and my iPhone – yes, most of the videos on Vimeo are now delivered via HTML 5 instead of Flash. Lovely and kudos to Vimeo who’s not nagging about Flash compability and just solves the problem with iPad/iPhone browsing! Read more about it at the newteevee blog.
iPhone 2G/3G/3GS/4 Speed Comparison
Here’s an interesting video featuring the four latest iPhone models (2G/3G/3GS/4) running a few different apps and tasks. The iPhone 4 is of course the fastest model and the difference in some of the tests compared to the iPhone 3G/2G is very big! (8.5 vs 25.7 seconds to load the Plants vs Zombies game).

Eye of the Tiger – iPad only
Here’s a cool video featuring a version of Survivors ‘Eye of the Tiger’ played on iPad apps only (Pocket Drums, Babyscratch, Pianolo HD and a few more). Pretty neat.
Fingerpainting with the iPad
You got to have some true skills to be able to paint like David Kassan in the video above but it’s still cool to see how the iPad can be used. The model sat for 3 hours and he recorded this video (timelapsed) showing how he put it all together with an iPad and the Brushes app. Pretty impressive!
Steve Jobs Keynote from 1984
This is quite an amusing, old clip. It’s an Apple keynote from 1984 where Steve Jobs introduced the first Apple Macintosh in front of an audience – listen to them, crazy!
Apple’s Press Conference July 16 – video
We wrote a quick summary of the July 16 press conference yesterday and now you can see the whole conference over at Apple’s site. The video is 34 minutes long and available in 3 bandwidth flavors.

YouTube is down
It’s the first time I’ve seen it happen but apparently YouTube.com is dead like a rock. Empty embedded videos everywhere and some team is probably working very hard to get things up and running again…
