Get the FaceTime beta

FaceTime for OS X

One of the new things Steve Jobs presented at yesterdays ‘Back to the Mac’ event was that FaceTime will come to the OS X, making it possible to call an iPhone from your Mac and vice versa. A beta version is already available and I just tried it out. It worked flawless for me even though it’s just a beta. I tried it with my MacBook and an iPhone on the same WiFi so it’s a bit too early to evaluate it, but I like the idea!

The New MacBook Air

The New MacBook Air

The most interesting part of the show was when Steve Jobs showed the ‘one more thing‘ of the evening – the new MacBook Air family. They are available today and the best model you can get is the 13-inch with 256 GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. All models comes with solid state flash storage and the new really cool ‘instant on’ features. More info and images inside.

OS X 10.7 event on Oct 20 (probably)

It looks like Apple will showcase an early version of OS X 10.7 – codename ‘Lion’? – on Oct 20. At least they are having an event called ‘Back to the Mac’. The same time last year they showcased Snow Leopard, so an updated OS preview is a probable guess. And perhaps a new MacBook Air?
