I think Lucas has made a pot of money for himself on a one-trick pony...the new films are terrible and the only decent one is Empire anyway..Do me a favour George, stop writing, sure as hell stop directing and leave the memory of muren, dykstra, tippet and the rest of your genius ILM pioneers in peace and quiet. You wanna make a decent movie again give Lawrence Kasdan a call. You know him he is the talented, witty and genius writer who wrote "Raiders" and "Empire" for you... At $50,000 dollars a minute for 3D, I'd give it to something worthwhile like Haiti...more money than sense.

around jan 09 i got to see a test shot that mitzubishi had in a trailer outside a mediocre av store. i put on the glasses and watched the beginning of e4 and the zam chase of e2. if you think it is a waste then you are not a serious fan. of either star wars or 3d movies. wow. it will rock.

Star Wars 3D... Now that's a film worth watching! I've seen all of them, I own all of them, yet to see them in 3D format?... WoW! That I can't wait for. The space battle in the Death Star is of course the scene I can't wait to see in IMAX 3D. It's going to be awesome! I can't wait!

Making a 3D version would keep the original characters unlike making a real live version which will require new actors and such.

Seen clip of Star Wars: A new Hope in 3-D HD. Looked great. Not only was the picture incredible, but the 3-D effect was amazing. There will be a market segment for this, and you will see it, and be impressed with it, in your local big box soon enough.

What's the tech behind this? How do you "make" a 3D film out of one that wasn't filmed with two cameras/lenses in the first place? Just make things up? Star Wars has a poor record when it comes to tech added after-the-fact (ie. CG that does not match the look and tone of the original).

I think that Lucas ran out of ideas a long time ago and is milking the franchise for all its worth. Sadly at this point there is no milk to be pulled and they are simply sucking the life force out of Star Wars now.

I won't see it if they release it. And I won't see the animated AOTC that is to be released sometime this month. Lucas has plenty of my money. I lost count of the copies of the original tril that I own.

PS- 3D in movies is overrated. I saw Superman Returns in the IMAX in 3D. While the scenes were solid it simply feels like a gimmick when its added. And in Star Wars? A movie that is months older then I am? No. Just no. Tie Fighters and X and Y wings flying into the screen does not make it worth the money.
