StopMotion Recorder is a cute little $0.99 app that will let you record short stop motion videos with your iPhone. Here’s our short review of the app.
The app is very easy to use, and as soon as you have shot one frame and you’re ready for the next one you will get a transparent overlay of the last frame so you can get sense of how much you should move your items.
You can either capture a frame by touching the screen, or by clapping your hand. I tried both methods and they work just fine. Clapping is a bit easier since you avoid touching your iPhone and risk moving it out of position. You can also set it up to shoot automatically at certain time intervals.
When you’re done with your video you can choose the rendering speed from 1 fps to 12 fps, and of course share your final movie on several services including YouTube.
There’s only a tiny problem with the app and that’s the limitation in frames you can take during one session – 99 frames. So basically you have to limit all your scenes to 99 frames. But it’s a very nice app and I can do nothing but recommend it if you want a quick and easy way to create a stop motion flick.
