Apple Store is closed and the event starts in 25 minutes!
Soon it’s time for the main event for the day, Apple’s iPhone press conference where they hopefully will unveil the new iPhone 5. Apple Store is currently closed but it will open up (with new goods!) in a couple of hours!
What is happening on Sunday?
Apparently there’s something big going on this weekend in all the Apple stores. According to recent post over at Cult of Mac the following info is available:
“There’s an overnight shift planned for around 10-15 individuals at each Apple Store to work from late Saturday all the way through mid-Sunday.”
• “During the overnight shift, it’s going to be required that employees lock cell phones in the main office. They will also have to sign an NDA with Apple.”
• “There are a wide variety of roles, we’re told, for the overnight shift. This includes all visuals staff, a manager, a business team member, a few Genius team members, one back-of-house employee, and a few generic Apple specialists.”
• “Apple stores have apparently already received hardware to install, and are expecting more hardware to come on Friday or Saturday. All materials that Apple stores have received have been instructed to be under lock and key until after close on Saturday night.”
• “Apple employees will be putting up black curtains at all stores so that people walking outside cannot see inside.”
• “Employees have had to download gigabytes of data from Apple corporate labeled, “training” in a password-protected zipped folder that won’t accessible to managers or anyone else until Saturday afternoon.”
• “Lastly, all Apple retail stores have mandatory meetings on Sunday, May 22nd. Most meeting are scheduled for the morning, but there are evening meetings as well.”
Pretty interesting, don’t you think?
Apple Store – Covent Garden
Sorry for the lack of updates the last days but I’ve been working from London and been quite busy. I stopped by the new Apple Store at Covent Garden and snapped a few photos with my iPhone. The Covent Garden is very big (world’s largest Apple store) and nice but the part of the store that sells accessories and software is quite small.

Apple is opening up their 6th Apple Store in London this weekend (if you count Bluewater in, it’s just outside the London district). It’s said to be one of the most beatiful Apple Stores so far and the retail space will occupy parts of three levels. The grand opening is taking place at 10 AM Saturday 7 August. The address is 1-7 The Piazza, London. ElectricPig was at the location after Apple removed the curtains today. Go check out their gallery.

The Apple Shanghai store unwrapped

Apple’s app wall
Yesterday at the WWDC event Apple had arranged a huge wall of connected screens showing a grid of thousand different app icons, arranged in color. Looked pretty neat, above you can see a close-up of one of the screens. More images over at TechCrunch.

New Apple Store in Boston
Tomorrow Apple will open up their latest Apple Store in Boston. 165 people will work in the building and it sure looks pretty!
