I like the idea with the BookBook case from TwelveSouth and it looks very nice at a first glance but there are a few things that I think they should improve.

Beware of fake iPads / iPhone 4

Beware of fake iPads

Apparently there are plenty of fake iPads / iPhone 4 out on the Chinese market. They are selling for $100 – $150 and not the real deal. The package might look like a genuine Apple product but the device inside is just a fake device running Android or another OS. Some of these fake products will probably end up on eBay and other sites as well so beware!

The fakes at the Silk Street Market are slightly smaller and, when switched on, display a logo saying they run on Google’s Android system. A test of the product showed the Internet connectivity and WIFI functions worked very well, music and video could be downloaded and played and photos displayed well. All the fakes had USB portsand memory card sockets. Staff said the batteries lasted two hours before requiring a recharge. They are not capable of downloading Apple applications from the iTunes Store.

Two days ago Adobe Photoshop Express was made available in the App Store, but it had a few terrible bugs so you couldn’t launch it in landscape mode. It got fixed yesterday and the new version at least works. But is the app any good?

New issue of Wired in App Store

August edition of Wired

If you update your iPad Wired app you can now get your hands on the August edition of Wired. Having to update your app just to be able to buy a new edition is a very winded way to get new content, hopefully they will fix this soon. I really like the possibility to buy great content for the iPad. Yeah I know, this is 5 days old news, but I’m still catching up from vacation.

Fingerpainting with the iPad

You got to have some true skills to be able to paint like David Kassan in the video above but it’s still cool to see how the iPad can be used. The model sat for 3 hours and he recorded this video (timelapsed) showing how he put it all together with an iPad and the Brushes app. Pretty impressive!

EZ Cam Lite for iPad / iPhone

EZ Cam Lite for iPad

It’s a big bummer that the iPad doesn’t feature a camera so if you need a quick way to snap photos with the iPad the ‘EZ Cam Lite’ is a neat solution. Basically you just install the app on your iPhone and your iPhone, choose to connect either via ‘bumping’ (didn’t work for me) or via bluetooth (worked just fine).
