Wikihood for iPad
Wikihood is a free app for iPad that pulls information from Wikipedia based on your geo location and present it either based on distance, relevance or ratings. It’s a quite clever application and even though the interface isn’t top notch it’s still a very cool application. I learned stuff about my neighborhood that I didn’t knew before.
iPad OS 3.2.1 is out

Oh, it’s update frenzy tonight. Apparently 3.2.1 for iPad has just been released as well. Here’s what you get with the update:
* Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
* Fixed an issue that stops the copy/paste of single-page PDFs in Mail
* Addressed issues that causes video playback to freeze
* Improved reliability involving the video-out using the iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter
* Added Bing to Safari’s search options
So go get that one as well if you’re an iPad owner.
2 Screens LE – web browsing on an external screen with iPad
A few days ago I wrote a short note on the iPad VGA Adapter and the fact that it couldn’t mirror the iPad display on an external display. Today I found a new program called ’2 Screens LE’ which enables web browsing on the external screen. It’s a $1.99 app and it actually works even though it’s very sluggish. It only updates the display every approx 0.5 seconds so it doesn’t look very smooth, but it solves my problem of hooking up the iPad and showing a web page on the big screen. More images and info inside.
Nice leather iPad case
I’ve browsed around different stores to find a nice, new case for my iPad. One of the nicest I’ve found so far is this leather case from Temple Bags. It’s made out of oiled leather and features vertical and horizontal viewing stand options. More images and info inside.
IMDB for iPad
If you haven’t tried the free IMDB app for iPad you are in for a surprise. It’s one of the best iPad apps I’ve tried so far and if you’re a movie buff like myself, you’re in for a treat. It’s much more fun to browse around than the traditional site and stuff like trailers are really well integrated.
DJ with your iPad
The really cool iPad Mixr DJ software won’t be out until this fall, but that won’t stop some users from DJ:ing with their iPads. Check out this cool scratch session using two iPads.
A note on the iPad VGA adapter
When I bought the ‘iPad dock connector to VGA Adapter’ I thought that any external screen would behave just like the iPad screen and that’s not the case. You can’t even browse photos properly with the adapter. It works just fine with Keynote, YouTube and Photo slideshows, but I must say that I’m a bit disappointed as I thought that I might be able to hook up the iPad and fire up Safari and demo a site. I couldn’t even get videos from iTunes to work properly as I just got an annoying message letting me know that “The connected dispay is not authorized to play proteced movies“.
iPad usage study
Mashable just published an interesting study from Resolve Market Research covering what people are doing with their iPad, why they bought one and why they are rejecting it. One really interesting fact is that 37% says that it will be their first Apple product. Check out the study over at Mashable:

Frash – flash on iPad video demo
I wrote about Frash – the software to get flash on jailbreaked iPads a few days ago and above is another demo showing how Frash works. It looks like it’s running perfectly but the installation process is really messy at the moment so you should really wait for a realese candidate of Frash before you install anything.

Still hard to get an iPad in London

I was working in London yesterday and I passed Apple Store on Regent Street to check if they had any iPads in stock. They had no stock at all. They had plenty of iPad accessories though, but no Camera connection kit. And of course they didn’t have any iPhone 4 either but that was less of a surprise. Other chains actually had a few iPads in stock though. I managed to pick up an iPad 3G at Square, located at 78 New Oxford Street pretty close to the Apple Store on Regent Street but they only had a few in stock as well = it’s still very hard to get hold of an iPad in London.
