iPhone 5 – what to expect
Since we have a bit of iPhone launch history to look back at, we have done a quick analysis of the current known data and estimate the following: iPhone 5 will be launched at June 24, 2011. It will come in two models, 32 and 64GB, feature a 7 megapixel camera, be at least 20% faster than the iPhone 4 and be even thinner – 0.3 inches or 7.6mm is our guess. More details and images inside.
Beware of fake iPads / iPhone 4
Apparently there are plenty of fake iPads / iPhone 4 out on the Chinese market. They are selling for $100 – $150 and not the real deal. The package might look like a genuine Apple product but the device inside is just a fake device running Android or another OS. Some of these fake products will probably end up on eBay and other sites as well so beware!
The fakes at the Silk Street Market are slightly smaller and, when switched on, display a logo saying they run on Google’s Android system. A test of the product showed the Internet connectivity and WIFI functions worked very well, music and video could be downloaded and played and photos displayed well. All the fakes had USB portsand memory card sockets. Staff said the batteries lasted two hours before requiring a recharge. They are not capable of downloading Apple applications from the iTunes Store.

iPhone 2G/3G/3GS/4 Speed Comparison
Here’s an interesting video featuring the four latest iPhone models (2G/3G/3GS/4) running a few different apps and tasks. The iPhone 4 is of course the fastest model and the difference in some of the tests compared to the iPhone 3G/2G is very big! (8.5 vs 25.7 seconds to load the Plants vs Zombies game).

This ain’t exactly breaking news but since I have a tradition of publishing an unboxing gallery everytime I get a new iPhone here is the unboxing of the iPhone 4.
Latest cover of MacWorld shot with iPhone 4
Peter Belanger is a well known commercial photographer living in San Francisco who’s responsbile for many MacWorld cover photos. The latest edition features an iPhone 4 and his mission was to shoot the photo – and post produce it – entirely with another iPhone 4. He wrote a blog posts about it. Pretty neat.

Apple’s Antenna page is stripped

A few weeks ago when Steve Jobs held an extra press conference regarding the antenna problems with the iPhone 4, Apple published a lot of information and a few videos that showed a similar problem with it’s competitors phones. Now the page has been stripped down and only contain some general information about Apple’s antenna design and test lab.

iPhone 4 Arrives in 17 More Countries This Friday
Despite the lack of iPhone 4 units around the world Apple will start distributing the phone to 17 more countries this Friday (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). My guess is that all these countries will get very limited stocks of the phone and build up long waiting lists of customers waiting to get the new phone.
First glimpse at the iPhone 4 jailbreak
Here’s a fresh interview with Jay Freeman, aka Saurik, the creator of the original Jailbreak showing up a jailbreaked iPhone 4 and talks a bit about the actual jailbreak.
Skype is now multitasking
One of the biggest problems with the old version of Skype for iPhone was that it didn’t multitask. You had to have the app open for anybody to be able to call you. With the latest version that got released yesterday you can receive calls while other apps are running and you can even continue your calls while you switch to another app. So if they just add video chat everything will be great!
