AI got this! What went down at the Snowflake Summit 2024

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Bay Area buzzed with data excitement earlier this month as nearly 20,000 data rockstars (engineers, architects, and enthusiasts!) converged on San Francisco for the Snowflake Summit. LTIMindtree and Fosfor were there in full force, not just attending, but dominating as a double-black diamond sponsor. Our massive booth presence wasn’t just about size. We fostered vibrant conversations about data storage, movement, and the future of AI. We hosted customer speaking sessions, in-booth theater presentations, and even threw unforgettable after-parties (complete with some much-appreciated relaxation!).

But the wins go beyond the fun. We were recognized for the third consecutive year as a distinguished services partner, and our early adoption of the groundbreaking Cortex AI – Fosfor’s deep integration with Snowflake – received industry-wide recognition. To top it all off, we even bagged the award for the best product display! In short, the Snowflake Summit was a resounding success for LTIMindtree and Fosfor. It showcased our expertise, solidified our partnerships, and positioned us at the forefront of the AI and data revolution.

The Snowflake Summit wasn’t just about the latest tech; it was a symphony of cutting-edge AI innovation harmonizing with rock-solid data management foundations. This powerful combination isn’t just meeting the needs of today’s AI-powered businesses, it’s paving the way for a future where decision intelligence reigns supreme. Data, AI, and apps – the holy trinity of the modern business – took center stage. Snowflake’s avalanche of new features underscored their clear mission: an AI Data Cloud that’s efficient, user-friendly, and built on trust.

Here’s how I see this summit shaping the future, from Snowflake’s perspective, for their customers, and ultimately, what it means for Fosfor.

1. Snowflake becomes the AI Data Cloud: Snowflake’s message at the summit was loud and clear. Through a flurry of announcements, both at the summit and beyond, they’re offering a powerful ecosystem for building and scaling enterprise-grade AI applications.

  • One-Stop Shop for AI: Whether it’s their Arctic large language models or the ability to host and fine-tune others (classical or generative), Snowflake aims to be the singular AI and data platform. One of the most significant announcements was the key partnership with NVIDIA which will empower developers to deploy advanced AI models directly within Snowflake, streamlining AI-powered applications.
  • Democratizing GenAI: Snowflake’s strategic move with native apps and Cortex AI is a game-changer. By providing the data and compute resources needed to build and deploy production-ready Generative AI solutions at scale, Snowflake aims to empower everyone – business and technical users alike – to participate in the GenAI revolution.
  • Open for Business: Snowflake isn’t going it alone. They’re embracing the open-source community, supporting Iceberg tables and contributing Polaris Catalog to ensure full interoperability across major SaaS applications and cloud platforms. Customer adoption of these capabilities will be fascinating to watch.

2. Customer focused on outcomes and more: The Snowflake Summit showcased a dazzling array of AI innovations. But for customers, the real question remains: how does this translate to business value? We spoke with customers at all stages of their data and AI journey, and their concerns were clear: they want results. Their ask: “What is the business value I’m going to get out of this?” While excited about the possibilities, they’re taking a cautious approach, experimenting with new tools but scaling them only when the ROI is proven. The most successful conversations revolved around concrete business outcomes. The best conversations we had were with prospects who freely articulated the business outcomes they are gunning for and we in turn were able to chart for them a path to get there. There is plenty of excitement around capabilities, but delivering outcomes still rules the day.

3. Fosfor takes strong direction, more to come: While we launched the Fosfor Decision Cloud at our flagship event—Foton 2024—back in February, this was the first time we were showing it to the world. The Summit was a defining moment for us as we show cased the Fosfor Decision Cloud, your one-stop shop for simplifying and accelerating AI-powered decisions on Snowflake. The response was fantastic! Customers resonated with our core message and are eager to explore how Fosfor can help them navigate the ever-evolving AI landscape.

Our core message came through loud and clear: simplifying and accelerating decisions on Snowflake with AI. Customers were not only interested, but many are already planning follow-up conversations and product trials. This enthusiastic response is a testament to the incredible work of our product, engineering, and solutions teams. They’ve helped solidify Fosfor’s direction, and with the wind at our backs, we’re poised for an exciting future.

An introduction to drift in Machine Learning

Before their release, ML models are usually trained with very well-analyzed data. They are controlled by cleaning, carefully eliminating, and engineering the data they ingest. However, once the model is live in production, the model is exposed to real-world data, which tends to be dynamic and bound to change with time. This exposure leads to a gradual or sudden decay in model performance or metrics. This loss of model prediction power is called model drift.
