We were delighted to showcase Lumin by Fosfor during the Analytics and Business Intelligence at the 2022 Gartner Data and Analytics Summit in Orlando, Florida.
The Gartner A&BI showdown this year took place over two sessions on day 2 and day 3 of the data and analytics summit with 6 vendors showcasing their platforms and capabilities by looking at datasets for a variety of UN sustainability topics. Sustainable Development isn’t just a catch phrase; it’s a collection of strategies and practices that countries must adopt for the welfare of their people—and to ensure a healthy relationship between humanity and the planet.
Lumin’s presentation was helmed by Ashish Rishi, the Head of Product Development at Fosfor. Ashish took the audience through an analytical journey, using our Decision Intelligence platform – Fosfor Lumin to identify key global trends in sustainable energy generation, performing deep dives into those regions and renewable energy technologies that are doing well, and tying this back to improving social outcome measures in terms of more people having access to electricity.

Sustainable energy trends investigation
Here are the key insights Fosfor Lumin uncovered:
- A few simple exploratory questions revealed that renewable energy generation is growing globally, as is its share in the total energy generation mix from the time the Paris Climate Agreement was signed back in 2015.
- The share had grown by more than 3 percentage points during the period from 2015 to 2019 (the last year included in the dataset provided by Gartner).
- When deep diving into the contributing factors behind this share increase, Our Decision Intelligence platform discovered that the East Asia and Pacific countries did especially well in terms of generating electricity sustainably in this period. The autonomous key drivers model also pointed out that public funds invested and international investments into energy research are the drivers of this increase.
- Interestingly, the autonomous insights capability had also nudged us—right on Lumin’s landing page—regarding increasing renewable energy production in East Asia in recent years. It was also positively noted that the increasing share of renewable energy in East Asia also correlated with a higher percentage of the population getting access to electricity each year with that number nearing the 90% mark in 2019.
Insights Sharing and Storytelling
Ashish also showcased the various means through which policymakers and analysts can share and collaborate on the insights that Lumin by Fosfor discovers, from autonomous alerts to exporting and sharing any one-off insights with a couple of clicks of the mouse. Fosfor Lumin’s SDKs and APIs were also highlighted, noting how the power of decision intelligence can be brought into any business application.
